Jimmy Osmond - Thanks Savannah Center!

We had such a great time at the Savannah Center in The Villages, Florida yesterday! Thanks go out for the kindness shown to us by the good people there, and for the wonderful review in The Villages News. We hope those of you who joined us for this first date on the Moon River & Me Tour had as much fun as we did!

Here is an interview I did with my brother, Jay, and Charlie Green after the shows last night...

My brother Jay and I made a stop while we were in Florida at a cool deli we discovered - TOOJAY'S : )

We are getting on a flight now to meet up with our brother, Merrill Osmond, for an Osmond Brothers' show at the Foellinger Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The show is tomorrow, July 9, 8:00 PM - join us! - Jimmy Osmond

  16. Jimmy, thanks so much for a day full of wonderful entertainment. You always do everything so beautifully and this was no exception. And thank you for singing Happy Birthday...made my birthday extra special and so fun after 40+ years to finally have an Osmond sing to me (and of course you would be my first choice :)) Good to see you again, my friend!

  18. VILLAGERS PRACTICE OSMOND-MANIA

It's been several days now since Jay and Jimmy Osmond performed in The Villages. In fact, they have already done another show in Indiana, and are off to do another one.

But there are Villagers who follow their every move online, and are just as fervent fans as in the heyday of the 1970s. They keep track of everything: birthdays, anniversaries, children's birthdays and special events, performances, TV appearances, etc.

It's more than idol worship: Debbie Gentry, 57, a Realtor in The Villages from Sunset Pointe, says that the entire Osmond family, with its warm spiritual values, friendliness and good nature have been a tremendous influence on her life. "I didn't have a good family life; there was always bickering...I would escape to my room and play their music to get away from everyday life...some people make fun of me but they don't understand what an effect (the Osmonds) had on me."

A fan since she was 7, she even remembers getting hugs from the late Mother Osmond in Branson, MO, where the family matriarch always sat in a special seat and greeted fans. One time Marie asked her to get some groceries for her as she didn't have access to a car. Debbie has seen over 100 Osmond concerts and attended both shows in The Villages Thursday. "They (the Osmonds) consider us their "buddies."

In fact Alida Blanchette, of Palm Bay, FL, is Facebook buddies with not only Jay but his wife Karen, due to a mutual friend. She had a childhood crush on Jay, she says, and she and Jimmy laugh together.

She brought her 10-year-old granddaughter Rachel to the Thursday show, and goes annually to Branson for their shows.

Debbie Campbell of The Villages experienced the thrill of a lifetime when Jimmy Osmond sang Happy Birthday to her during the 5 p.m. show!

Once upon a time, celebrities were isolated from their fans for the most part....distant with little personal contact. In today's world, where online media make it easy to know everything about everyone, that is not necessarily the case for rabid fans.
