Jimmy Osmond welcomes Rockapella to Andy Williams PAC

I'm really excited about Rockapella performing at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri June 13 - July 16. These guys are amazing and if you haven't seen them perform before, you really aren't going to want to miss them! If you have seen their show, I know you'll join me in wanting to see them again. I don't know how all of that music comes out of them!

Branson, Missouri is such a fun, family-friendly place to visit with so much going on. The timing is great with Rockapella being at my theater while most kids are on summer vacation...so visit us at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center and take in a few shows. Families will also enjoy seeing my friend, Illusionist Rick Thomas!

Who has seen Rockapella perform before? Or Rick Thomas? Let me know here what you think! I love reading your comments. : )

Jimmy Osmond's "Kid Updates"

Our oldest child, Sophia, took over my blog yesterday - that was fun. We took some pictures today and I thought I'd share this one of Sophia and me with the vinyl of my new album, "Jimmy Osmond - Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams." I'm really excited about the vinyl version, since I haven't released a vinyl record in years! Isn't it amazing how so many things seem to eventually make a come-back?!

Jimmy Osmond - Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams

Our next child, Zachary, graduates this Tuesday and we are all so excited for him!

Congratulations Zak!

Our third child, Wyatt, has this cartoon in his room, and I thought it might be fun to share it here since several of you have asked if I still draw. I love this cartoon. Wyatt came across this one when he was going through some of my art projects from the past. I used to airbrush when it was popular way back in the 1980s, and when Wyatt found it, it was an unfinished airbrush project. He liked it, which made me feel good, so I completed the drawing and it ended up being a combination of techniques.

Sophia Osmond takes over Jimmy Osmond’s Blog today…

Hi everyone!

I’ve been hearing about the excitement for my dad’s new CD, “Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams,” so I thought I’d take over “Jimmy Osmond’s Blog” today and give you a little background on the song I recorded with my dad for the CD. There is also a new video we put together on the PledgeMusic website, so I hope you get a chance to take a look. PledgeMusic has some great package options in addition to ordering the new CD.

It was fun to record with my dad again! We have worked on projects together, but have never published them. “Somethin’ Stupid” has become a special song for my dad and me, because we recorded it as a father-daughter duo just like Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nancy in 1967. My dad always includes family in everything and this meant a lot to me to be a part of.

My dad recorded his lead vocals for the song ahead of time so he could come to the studio with me for my harmony. My dad always makes me laugh, as well as helps me focus when I’m recording, so it’s not hard to be myself. I feel like I need him in there with me, because he knows me so well and knows perfectly how to help me.

My family and I grew up living next door to Andy Williams in Branson, Missouri. I remember when I was younger, seeing Andy go on evening walks with his family around our neighborhood. I would see him every couple of weeks in the summer when I was playing outside in our yard. He would always wave to me and say, “Tell your family hi!” He was one of those people you’d get excited to see, because they make you feel important. I am grateful I was able to take part in paying tribute to Andy Williams on my dad’s new CD, “Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams by Jimmy Osmond.” I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks from Jimmy Osmond

I wanted to thank those of you who have expressed your enthusiasm about my new CD - Moon River & Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams. As I've mentioned before, with this year I enter my 50th anniversary in entertainment, and it felt so right for me to have this tribute to Andy be a part of my 50th anniversary. It has also been really great to hear the nice comments from those who have been to a Moon River & Me show, and I'm really excited to be taking it on the road in addition to the dates we perform at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri.

So, thank you for being so supportive of this project that is very special to me. Remember, if you order through PledgeMusic, there are several different options that include signed photos, the CD, vinyl, and even a limited quantity of the autobiography (autographed by Andy) "Andy Williams, Moon River & Me." - Jimmy Osmond

Another response to "Ask Jimmy Osmond"

Here is another question that was posted to "Ask Jimmy Osmond" -

Will your daughter Sophia be singing in the U.K. Christmas tour again?

Yes, that is the plan for my daughter, Sophia, to be a part of the U.K. Christmas shows, but it will depend on her college schedule. I always love having family join us on tour whenever and however they can.

The Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza starts out at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri November 1 - December 9. Then, December 10-11-12 we take it on the road with the Lennons for three U.S. performances.

Immediately following those dates, we hop on a plane and take the Andy Williams Christmas Spectacular to the United Kingdom December 14-30.

All of the details for the Andy Williams Christmas Extravaganza tour dates are on osmond.com. We look forward to this "most wonderful time of the year." - Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy Osmond meets Mark Lowry

It was a great honor to meet the man who wrote the song that changed my life. "Mary Did You Know?" is a song that I've sung in concert for years, and some of you know I use this footage from the documentary I produced for the BBC called, "The Story of Jesus" on the screen behind me when I sing it. Mark and I met each other at Dino's show in Branson, Missouri and became quick friends. I think "Mary Did You Know?" is truly an inspired song, so thank you Mark Lowry, I am honored to be able to perform this beautiful song.

Jimmy Osmond Update from Andy Williams PAC

Well, we performed our final show for this run of Moon River and Me at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri tonight. Charlie Green did some live-streaming backstage before the show on his Facebook page and I hear it was a lot of fun. I understand you can still watch it on his Facebook page, so take a look if you get a chance. It has been great working with Charlie Green and Chipper Lowell in the show again this season, and to have my brother, Jay Osmond, in the show too. We look forward to continue performing the legendary music of Andy Williams as we take Moon River and Me on the road!

My friends, The Lettermen, are back for another run at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center with their opening tomorrow, Friday, May 13, 8:00 PM Central. I'm so glad to have them back. They are my brothers from another mother. :-) They will be performing dates in May and June, and then will be back in September, October and November. It is always nice to have them at the theater, and I hope you get here to see their fantastic show.

Speaking of brothers from another mother...you've got to love the creativity of Chipper Lowell :-)

And this was exciting - my new CD, "Jimmy Osmond - Moon River and Me: A Tribute to Andy Williams," just arrived at the theater! Charlie Green brought it out to me on stage tonight. I hope you enjoy the CD - let me know here what you think of it!

Another answer to "Ask Jimmy Osmond"

I wanted to thank everyone who has been visiting "Jimmy Osmond's Blog." I appreciate your kind words and the fun questions!

The next question from "Ask Jimmy Osmond" that I'm answering is:
Are there any plans to make a DVD of the Moon River and Me show?
Not at this time, but I would like to do that. I have talked to a few broadcasters that are interested, but there is nothing firm yet. Thanks for the question!

Only two more performances of "Moon River and Me - Hosted by Jimmy Osmond" with my talented friends Charlie Green and Chipper Lowell, and guest appearances by my brother, Jay Osmond, remain for this run at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri. I have been having so much fun with the show, and I love saying hi to people after the shows and hearing your comments. Thank you!

Happy Mother's Day from Jimmy Osmond!

I wanted to wish all of the mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Some of you may remember me recording the song, "Mother of Mine" when I was just a little boy and then again as an adult. I've put together a tribute to my sweet mother, Olive Osmond, and thought I would share it with you here. With that tribute I also wish a Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful wife, Michelle.

Happy Mother's Day!

An answer to "Ask Jimmy Osmond"

One of the questions recently submitted to "Ask Jimmy Osmond" was...
If you could start your career over from scratch, would you make any changes?

Yes, I would have believed in myself a little bit more and I would have stuck with what I love to do the most, which is making music. But, all that being said, I wouldn't have changed any of the experiences I've had. The good times and the bad are what make this time of my life so fulfilling and rewarding. I'm truly doing what I love right now, regardless of the size of the crowd. Every night after I finish my shows, it feels so amazing.

Having owned theaters (the Osmond Family Theater and now, the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri), I have a unique perspective of what all the jobs are - not just being in the spotlight. When I'm on stage, I'm thinking about all that goes into making the show happen and all the other people that it takes to make a show look and sound good.

So, even though I've ended up doing more than making music, I'm happy and grateful for all of my experiences in my entertainment career. - Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy Osmond Welcomes Ray Stevens to the Andy Williams PAC

I'm super excited that Ray Stevens will be performing at the Andy Williams Performing Arts Center in Branson, Missouri, Saturday, May 14! I've had the privilege of knowing Ray Stevens my whole life, and it's amazing that after all these years, he's playing at my place. This could be one of the last times to see him perform in Branson - you've got to come and see him!

Performing with Ray Stevens will be comic, Etta May - who will be back with Southern Fried Chicks September 17 - which will be another fun show.

I've dug up some old footage of me working with Ray Stevens in a piece we called, "Long Tall Texan." My mother, Olive Osmond, plays the saxophone, and Danny Thomas and Andy Williams are also in it. What a fun memory!

Jimmy Osmond's mom was everyone's mom

Today, May 4, is the birthday of the most amazing woman ever - my mother, Olive Osmond. Affectionately known worldwide as "Mother Osmond," my siblings and I grew up sharing our mother with Osmond fans everywhere. Our fans loved her, and she always took time to listen to their stories.

Olive Osmond passed on Mother's Day in 2004, but people everywhere still honor and celebrate her memory. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. - Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy Osmond remembers Ret Turner

I am saddened by the death of Ret Turner, a dear friend to the Osmond family. Often working with Bob Mackie, Emmy Award winner Ret Turner dressed everyone in Hollywood - Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Cher, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, and so many others...including the Osmonds. I knew him as Uncle Ret and feel the passing of this dear and talented man is the end of an era.

During the Donny and Marie Show years, Ret dressed me up as everything from a deep sea diver, to a bear, a reindeer, a lion, a shark, and sometimes I even got to wear a tux. :-)

I love you and miss you already Uncle Ret...see you on the other side. - Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy Osmond Caricatures

One of the questions asked recently on the "Ask Jimmy Osmond" post was about my caricatures. I've loved drawing for as long as I can remember and still draw to this day.

One representation of my caricatures is in a book/cassette tape (yes, this was released awhile ago!) called "If Santa Were My Daddy." The song was originally recorded in the 1970s and the children's book was illustrated by me. There are actually some of these still around - check out the osmond.com store.

I also used Jimmy Osmond caricatures to create Hummy Bear and a line of pins - both of which are available through the osmond.com store.

Most recently, my character design was used for my children's book, published by Regnery Kids, called, "Jimmy Osmond's Awesome Possum Family Band."

You never know where one of my drawings will pop up. In 2008, my brother, Jay Osmond, released a CD single of "Little Drummer Boy," and I drew a caricature of him as the little drummer boy which was used as part of the CD art.
